After the highs and lows of Christmas, we are now into the season of cutting back and gym commitments. So, to help you along the way I have created a great detoxing smoothie snack drink for you to tuck into during the day. When I think of detox, I think of the liver organ which is the main detoxing organ in the body. Instead of us trying to detox the body ourselves, which normally doesn’t work, our detoxing smoothie will work much better if we strengthen the liver organ itself, which will then cleanse our bodies for us.

The best foods that work on detoxification in the liver, are foods that are rich in sulfur, amino acids and glutathione (a potent antioxidant). Having these components together in your smoothie will create the perfect toxin cleansing shake, which will help to keep your skin looking clean and fresh, and act on free radicals that are causing damage and aging within your body.

The ingredient list is as follows:

  • 1/2 an avocado (glutathione)

  • 8 brazil nuts (amino acid methionine)

  • Half a kiwi fruit (vitamin-C)

  • 2 handfuls of Kale (sulfur)

  • A handful of pineapple chunks (for digestion)

  • 3-4 tablespoons of full fat Greek yogurt (Amino acid cystine) *Option

Place all the ingredients into a bullet blender with a dash of water. Mix for a few moments, serve when ready.

The perfect system booster that is not only healthy, it is also very filling.
